In the previous post Logical Gates in Ladder Logic for PLC, we had an overview of what is Ladder Logic programming and we have also implemented three basic Logical gates in Ladder Logic form.Today, we are gonna have a look at some complex Logical Gates in Ladder Logic for PLC. So, I hope till now you guys have basic knowledge of Ladder Logic and can implement complex logical gates in it.
My first experience with PLC's was with Siemens Industry Inc. (formerly Moore Products) which seems to control the majority of the beverage industry. This introduction led me to believe that CFC's (continuous function charts), structured text, and SFC's (sequential function charts) was the only way to program a PLC.

I realized I was dead wrong when I started working for a systems integrator partial to Allen Bradley. I began learning ladder logic and realized how much more intuitive it was for me to use having a background dominated by power and electrical engineering. Maybe this is not the case for other engineers with EE concentrations.
I should also mention that the systems integrator I work for specializes in plastic extrusion and packaging materials manufacturing. We haven't done any large-scale DCS type process controls (yet).
Is there anything special about CFC's, SFC's, and structured text that make it preferable for controlling entire plants? From a personal standpoint, I would rather go ladder logic all the way, but I've never been in a position to make that decision.
